Any suggestions for family activities if it is a rainy day on our “resort day” spent at the Polynesian at Walt DisneyWorld?

Aloha Molly! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Fingers crossed that you have great weather for your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, but I do have some ideas about things to do if it rains on your Disney parade.

You've chosen a wonderful spot as your "home" during your stay at the Walt Disney World Resort. Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is a tropical paradise - in fact, a little fall of rain may just add to the feel that you're on a tropical island! It's a perfect time to explore the amazing spaces of your Resort hotel. Head to the Great Ceremonial House to shop for a new book or toy for the kids, then step out to the Pineapple Lanai and dig into a Dole Whip. You'll also often find a Cast Member in the lobby making traditional leis using fresh flowers, which is really fun to watch. Plus, every Resort hotel has an arcade, so you can let the kids loose to play.

Be sure to peruse the activities schedule you get at check-in for more fun things to do! Lots of them will take place around the pool, so check with the Resort concierge to see if any games may have moved inside.

Molly, another way I'd pass the time on a rainy day is to do some resort hopping on the monorail. You're just a short ride to the elegant Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and the fun and funky Disney's Contemporary Resort. How about planning a snack crawl and sampling a treat from each Resort hotel?

I hope this helps you plan a wonderful Walt Disney World vacation, Molly, whatever the weather may bring. Wishing you sunny skies and magical days!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
