Ahoy Andrea!
Thanks for cruising on over to planDisney as you prepare for your upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation! I'm getting ready to set sail on the
Disney Dream later this month, and the packing may have already started in our house - even if we're still a few weeks away!
Andrea, you'll find most Guests on Disney cruises dress in what could best be described as
"cruise casual." For the main dining rooms, Disney requests that Guests refrain from wearing swimwear or tank tops. Mouseketeers of all ages typically wear a variety of clothing - from sundresses and khakis with polos to shorts and t-shirts - depending on personal preferences. My family often chooses to shower and change before dinner, with my husband and sons typically wearing khaki shorts and a collared short-sleeved shirt, while I'm usually in capris and a casual shirt or sundress. There is typically one night on your cruise itinerary that is listed as "optional dress-up," and it is truly optional. Some families will dress in suits and formal dresses, while others continue to embrace the cruise casual look. If you are planning to visit one of the adult-exclusive restaurants (such as
Palo Steakhouse or
Enchanté), there is an elevated dress code with formal or semi-formal attire recommended, but "dress casual with a polished look" is acceptable as well.
On
Pirate Night, you'll find many Guests choose to participate in the swashbuckling dinner and activities with themed shirts or even costumes. Often, your stateroom host will deliver pirate bandanas for each Guest that evening, so even if you choose not to bring a themed outfit for the night, you'll have a special accessory to use for the evening. If you want to fully embrace Pirate Night, you can even book a pirate makeover at the
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! While makeovers are typically limited to children, on Pirate Night, everyone can join the fun!
Other than thinking about dinner and evening attire, I pack several bathing suits and cover-ups to wear around the ship and on the islands during the day. The Caribbean weather will be warm in June, so other casual items to wear around the ship should be lightweight and cooling. I also suggest bringing a hat as I enjoy the added sun protection, particularly at that time of year. Onboard, you'll find
laundry facilities, which we typically use at least once during our vacation. Knowing laundry is available during the cruise helps put my mind at ease when packing, as I know I can always do a load of laundry if needed!
Andrea, I hope this information is helpful and that you enjoy a wonderful cruise! If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney - we're all ears!
SEA ya real soon!
