Hi Kay:
Disney World vacations feature a multitude of dining options that help make returning to Disney World a unique experience each visit. The only possible downside to eating at a restaurant on the Resort monorail line is the brief commute. If your vacation time is short, you may not want to spend any extra minutes commuting in and out of the Park to eat. If you chose a Resort restaurant, you may want to eat there before or after you enter or leave the Parks for the day, just to maximize your Park time.
Two great monorail-line restaurants for families are
Chef Mickey's and
'Ohana. Both restaurants feature character breakfasts. At Chef Mickey's, you can enjoy a huge breakfast buffet (including eggs, waffles, cereals, and more) with Mickey and friends, while at 'Ohana, you can enjoy served family-style eggs, bacon, and sausages, among other foods with Lilo & Stitch.
Dinner at Chef Mickey's is a character buffet dinner that includes roast chicken, beef and an awesome sundae bar. Dinner at Ohana's features meat-filled skewers served with stir-fried vegetables, dumplings, noodles, and salad. Dinner at Ohana's does not have characters, but the family can have fun with storytellers, coconut races (kinda like curling), hula hoops, and dancing.
For a great family sit-down meal in the Parks, we enjoy
The Crystal Palace character dining with Winnie the Pooh and friends where you can enjoy American favorites for breakfast lunch and dinner. For a quick service experience inside Magic Kingdom, our family always "gravitates" towards Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café for "out of this world" burgers, chicken, and salads. Columbia Harbour House offers another great quick service option in a slightly more subdued and relaxing setting.
