I suffer from motion sickness, but I'm going on a Disney Cruise anyway! I've heard rooms located in the middle of the ship can be better for people like me. I booked through a travel agent. Can I still request a certain location on the ship?

    Hi Kim,

That's the spirit!  I have to tell you that I've had my fair share of sea-sickness, but nothing would keep me from enjoying a Disney Cruise.

If you booked through a travel agent, more than likely your cabin number has already been assigned.  I would contact your travel agent to find out if that is the case.  If not, I suggest that you request a mid-ship cabin on a mid to lower deck.  The motion is felt the most on the upper decks and the forward part of the ship.

Now regardless of where your cabin is located, there are a few things that you can do to try to minimize motion sickness.  First, talk to your doctor of pharmacist before you leave to discuss your options. There are over the counter and prescription medications that work great a combating sea sickness. On my most recent cruise I bought the Sea-Band bracelets but thankfully didn't even have to take them out of the package.  Secondly, if once onboard you're feeling a little woozy try to get to fresh air and look far onto the horizon.  Looking directly at the waves in close proximity to the ship only amplifies the nausea.  There is a great outdoor deck on deck 7, aft - it's always pretty quiet (many don't even know it's there) and it allows for plenty of fresh air at a good distance from the motion of the water.

I hope this helps - have a great cruise!
