I suffer with a condition and I cannot go on the rollercoasters that have sudden drops (like the tower of terror which I know from Paris), or rides which are quite "jerky," can someone recommend rides to avoid when I go to Florida parks in July?

Hey, howdy, hey, Marnie! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question! Summer celebrations are in full swing at the Walt Disney World Resort, and you're going to be arriving in the middle of all the seasonal fun!

One of the great things about the attractions throughout the theme parks is that so many of them are family-friendly, so you will be able to experience most of the rides without a problem. There are, however, a few that I'll recommend skipping due to your concerns about sudden drops and turbulence! Let's go park by park to help you navigate your way comfortably during your upcoming visit!

    Magic Kingdom Park:
    • Tiana's Bayou Adventure - this attraction features a few smaller drops before the major 50-foot drop at the end of the experience.
    • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - this roller coaster has several twists, turns, and smaller drops, but is a little turbulent in certain spots.
    • Space Mountain - this dark coaster is known for its turbulence and twisting.
    • Pirates of the Caribbean - while this is mostly a calm ride, it does have a smaller, sudden drop that sometimes takes Guests by surprise. It's a pretty smooth drop, but it's there!
    Disney's Hollywood Studios:
    • Slinky Dog Dash- while super fun and pretty smooth, it does have some drops and also a backwards movement that is slightly turbulent.
    • Twilight Zone Tower of Terror - as you already know, this attraction features a sequence of sudden drops.
    • Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith - this indoor coaster features inversions and sudden drops, as well as a sudden launch that sets you off from 0 to almost 60 MPH is just 2.8 seconds.
    EPCOT:
    • Test Track (currently closed for refurbishment) - this attraction does have some spots of roughness as your car undergoes testing, as well as a fast loop at the end.
    • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind - while this coaster is pretty smooth, it is fast-moving and has an exhilarating reverse launch before spinning you all around the galaxy.
    Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park:
    • Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain - this coaster features sudden forward and backward drops.
    • DINOSAUR - this dark ride is one of the most turbulent ones on property as you travel back in time hunting for a dinosaur!
    • Kali River Rapids - this family-style raft ride features a few sudden drops and a rocky incline.
Marnie, I hope this helps you to start to feel confident about deciding which attractions to avoid when you visit. You can also search the attractions list, filtered by Health Advisories, for additional information to help in your planning. Attractions with advisories will also have posted warnings at the entrances and before boarding; in the event that you've entered the queue and later decide an attraction is not for you, just let a Cast Member know and they'll be happy to assist you with an exit! If you have any other questions we can help with before your arrival, come on back to planDisney and let us know!
