Struggling to pick a hotel for our first Disney trip EVER in Dec. I want a theme park view--I've narrowed it down to GF and Contemporary but don't know which to pick! GF is $1300 more, is it really worth it?

    Hello Matina!

I'm so excited that you are planning your first trip to Walt Disney World Resort! Visiting during the holiday season is so much fun. The decorations are beautiful and it's such a festive atmosphere!

You really can't go wrong staying at either Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or Disney's Contemporary Resort. They are both gorgeous, convenient and beautifully appointed. I have stayed in both of these Resorts so I do have some insight to share that will hopefully help you decide.

Since you'll be traveling in December, I must tell you that Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is home to the magnificent Gingerbread House that has become a holiday destination of its own. It's located in the hotel lobby and worth a visit no matter where you stay! The rooms here are beautiful and spacious and it's just a quick hop on the monorail to Magic Kingdom Park.

That said, there is something about Disney's Contemporary Resort that has my heart. It's another beautiful Resort with wonderful history as the first Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. The Resort Monorail runs right through the hotel and you can even walk from there to Magic Kingdom Park, which really sets it apart for my family.

For the savings and ability to walk to Magic Kingdom park, I would choose Disney's Contemporary Resort and make time for a visit to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Either way, I know you will have a magical time!

Thanks so much for your question, Matina.

    Happy planning!
