What is the strategy to make meal resv w/o park hopper to utilize magic hrs dining at resorts? How much time should we allow to get from a park to a resort for resv?

    Hi Tammie!

The first thing that you need to do, especially if you will not be utilizing the Park Hopper option, is to plan which park you will be visiting on which day. When deciding which parks to visit, you will want to take into account things such as Extra Magic Hours and park hours.Once you have decided on the parks, planning your dining reservations can be a snap. For dining reservations at one of Walt Disney World resorts, I will pick a resort that is close in proximity to the park I'm visiting. For example, if we are visiting Animal Kingdom I will usually make a dinner reservation for Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Traveling from parks to resorts is fairly simple and would just require that you take a bus, monorail or water taxi to the resort.Transportation time can vary widely depending on the time of year you will be visiting. If you plan to visit in the summer or near a major holiday, I would give yourself 45 minutes to an hour.Less busy times of the year, a half hour will typically give you plenty of time.

Traveling from one Disney resort to another, will require extra time as Disney transportation does not run from resort to resort. You will need to transfer at one of the 4 parks or Downtown Disney in order to reach your final destination. For example, if you are staying Animal Kingdom Lodge with a dining reservation for 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian, it will take a couple of extra steps to reach your destination.First, you will need to take the bus from Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Magic Kingdom and transfer to the Monorail to reach the Grand Floridian.Make sure to always add in more travel time if you will be traveling from resort to resort.

If you need any help figuring which parks to visit on certain days or have any other questions, please let me know.

    Happy Planning!
