Hi, Catherine!
Thank you for stopping by planDisney. You must be so excited for your upcoming cruise. Sailing out of Port Canaveral is so handy with it being just an hour from Walt Disney World and the Orlando Airport.
Upon debarkation from your
Disney Cruise Line ship, you must take all of your luggage with you. If you choose to do a day trip before heading to the airport, you will need to make arrangements for your luggage storage. If you do an internet search for Luggage Storage Services, you will find some options of offsite storage locations, or shuttle services that will provide transportation and luggage storage. I would definitely plan ahead for this so you have a plan as soon as you debark the ship.
But let's back-up to a happier time...embarkation day! When you arrive at the port, you will drop your tagged luggage prior to entering the cruise terminal. If you need additional
luggage tags, porters will have extras for you. (Tipping your porter is not required but greatly appreciated as they transfer all the heavy luggage!) Plan ahead with a carry-on bag with passports, medication, swimsuits, valuables, and anything you might need in the first few hours of your cruise. Your checked bags will be delivered to your stateroom door a few hours after you board.
After
checking in inside the Port Terminal, you will board the ship when your boarding group is called. Take your time boarding and enjoy the royal "welcome aboard" from the crew of your beautiful ship. Start off with lunch then tour the ship until your room is ready (usually around 1:30pm). My kids always jumped right into their swimsuits and were in the pool before we could say "Bon Voyage!" Be ready for a ship full of fun and adventure!
Best wishes for a magical cruise and for all other adventures planned for your vacation. See you real soon!
Cathy
