Ahoy Lauren!
So glad you have your sights set on a Disney cruise and will be sailing to Mexico. Having been to
Cozumel, I can say with all certainty that you are in for a real treat. There are
so many great Port Adventures to choose from, the hard part is deciding on which one to select! We have been swimming with dolphins before, and it’s definitely a highlight for the whole family, especially for the kids.
Disney Cruise Line sets some minimum age requirements for its
Port Adventures, and they may not always align with the ages allowed by the company offering the excursion. Unfortunately, if Captain Mickey has said no one under a certain age may register for
Dolphin Encounter at Dolphinaris, then you would not be able to book that particular Port Adventure. But you could make arrangements directly with Dolphinaris and coordinate everything with them; it just would not be handled through Disney Cruise Line.
I would verify this information with
a Disney Cruise Line Vacation Planning Specialist just to be sure that your 4-year-old is not able to participate. If not, there are other Port Adventures you could search for with no age limitations. Dolphinaris even has one called
Dolphin Swim that is for ages 3-9 that appears to be even more time with a dolphin under the supervision of dolphin trainers. It actually lasts 40-minutes and includes touching and interacting with the dolphins from a partially submerged landing in a protected ocean cove.
I’ll also be cruising around that same time (just on a different itinerary), so we will have to trade notes after our trips! Regardless of which Port Adventure or experience you book, have a WONDERful time with your family!
Happy Sailing!
