    We are staying at the Yacht club and have reservations at Chef Mickey's. The best way to get to CM is to take a bus to Magic Kingdom and walk or take the monorail, correct? We are not going to MK the day we go to CM and I want to be sure that is ok

    You are absolutely correct.  That's the best way using Disney transportation.  Another option is to simply use a taxi to go directly from the Yacht Club to the Contemporary, but of course that will cost money.
