Hello, Kristin,
Thank you for sending your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm so excited to hear you are coming to Walt Disney World and staying at
Disney's Yacht Club Resort. Stormalong Bay is incredible; it is nearly like a mini-water park! I love the sand bottom pool; it is such a unique experience to be in a pool while still having the feel of the beach. The lazy river is perfect, too, for relaxing after a day in the parks. However if more fun and adventure is what your family would like, there is a great water slide set inside a shipwreck. And after a pool break, having some ice cream at the newly renovated
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is a must-do.
As for the crowds at Stormalong Bay, the afternoons will have more guests enjoying the pool, especially during the summer months when it can get hot. However, the pool is over 3 acres in size so it can hold a lot of guests without feeling crowded. The one challenge might be finding a poolside chair or chaise to use during peak times. In addition to Stormalong Bay, Disney's Yacht Club also has a more traditional pool for guests. We liked that pool when we just wanted a quick swim to cool off and often found fewer people there.
Wishing you a magical trip. Please let us know if you have any further questions and make sure to look for the hidden Mickey on the globe in the lobby of the resort! -Kara
