We'll be staying at Yacht Club in a few weeks, is it possible to take the monorail from Magic Kingdom to Epcot and then walk to the resort? Keeping in mind we'll have 4 kids in tow. I want them to be able to ride the monorail at least 1x!

    Hi Melissa!

Welcome to planDisney!  You and your family are going to love Disney's Yacht Club Resort on your upcoming visit!  Not only will you have access to one of the most popular pools at Walt Disney World Resort in Stormalong Bay, but one of my favorite restaurants is located here too - Ale & Compass.  Whether you choose to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the menu is absolutely delicious from top to bottom!

Melissa, you know you are truly in The Most Magical Place on Earth when the resort transportation can also be a highlight of your trip!  In fact, some of my panelist pals recently shared their best transportation tips over on the Disney Parks Blog which you may find helpful.  While you can take the monorail from Magic Kingdom Park to EPCOT and Disney's Yacht Club Resort is within walking distance to EPCOT, these two things happen at different entrances.  The EPCOT monorail station is located at the main entrance to the park whereas Disney's Boardwalk, which is where your hotel is located, is accessible via the International Gateway at EPCOT.  The International Gateway entrance is located in the World Showcase, just past the United Kingdom.  To take the monorail and then walk to your resort, you would need to have the park hopper option on your tickets so you can enter EPCOT, walk through the park, and then exit at the International Gateway.  As a mom of three myself, I'd want to consider how long we've been in the parks already since tired legs can become a very real thing for my kids at the end of the day.

There are a few other options to enjoy the monorail if the plan above doesn't work for your family.  From Magic Kingdom Park, you'll find the monorail makes stops at several resorts including Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  You could choose to simply take a break from the park and ride the monorail for fun or, better yet, hop off the monorail at one of these resorts to grab a bite to eat.  Another hidden gem restaurant for me is the Grand Floridian Cafe.  They have a really yummy breakfast menu with one of my favorites being the Avocado Toast.  You could also take a break from the park at EPCOT and ride the monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center and then back again.  On your way back to EPCOT, you'll glide above the park for a beautiful birds-eye view!

If your kids are looking forward to the monorail, they may also enjoy taking a ride on the Disney Skyliner!  My middle child said this was his favorite ride from our last visit. . .and it didn't even require going into a park!  You can catch the Skyliner at the International Gateway and soar off to some neighboring hotels for resort hopping.  If you can grab a character breakfast reservation at Topolino's Terrace at Disney's Riviera Resort, the Skyliner may be the perfect way to get there!

Melissa, I hope you enjoy making so many magical memories with your family!  Please stop by to see us again with any other questions you have in the future!

    Cheers,
    Kristi
