We are staying at WL for 6 nights with twin 4 yo March 2012. We need to stay 2 more nights in Orlando but do not plan to go into parks except Downtown Disney. What on/off site hotels would you suggest for entertainment/ pools but keeping moderate budget?

Hi Diana!  It is hard to pack up and change hotels during a vacation but I understand your concerns.

I would definitely calculate what it would cost to stay put at the Wilderness Lodge for the two extra nights.  There is so much to do from renting water boats, to fishing , to just enjoying all of the monorail resorts that are close by. You can still enjoy the nightly Magic Kingdom fireworks too by heading to the Polynesian beach.

If this doesn't seem to work with the budget then I suggest you check out the Swan or the Dolphin Resorts located in the Boardwalk area.  They both often have great specials for rooms and you will get another experience in a new area. There is nightly activity on the Boardwalk and I love to walk around the lake at night. There is a large pool complex, spa, and many dining opportunities in these resorts. You can call to see if any specials for room rates are running during the time you will be vacationing.
