I am staying at the WL and made a reservation at the beach club for the character breakfast at 8:30 AM on a day that Epcot has extra magic hours 8 AM-9AM. I am wondering what is the best way to get to Epcot from WL and then to get to breakfast on time?

    Hi Sue!

The Beach Club is outside of Epcot; it is basically about a 5 to 10 minute walk from Epcot's back door, the International Gateway, located between the France and United Kingdom pavilions.  Disney transportation would drop you off at the front of Epcot and the walk would be a good 30 minutes or longer to the Beach Club.  However, the real problem is you can't really get to the International Gateway exit until World Showcase opens and it doesn't open early in the morning.  The best option, in my opinion, is to take a taxi from the Wilderness Lodge straight to the Beach Club.

If you really want to use Disney transportation, you could jump on the first bus going to any theme park except for Epcot.  Then when you got to that theme park, you would just look for a bus going to the Beach Club.  If you want to do that, plan on being out in front of the Wilderness Lodge at the bus stop by 7:00.  However, it's a good chance there won't be any buses that early in the morning.  Also, be sure not to get on a bus going to Epcot, because there are no buses from Epcot to the Beach Club.

Coming back after breakfast is straight forward, especially since I recommend visiting Epcot after breakfast.  Then to get back,  I suggest taking the monorail from Epcot to the Transportation and Ticket Center.  Once at the TT&C, you can catch the Magic Kingdom Resort Monorail and take it to the Contemporary Resort.  Once at the Contemporary, go down to the boat dock and catch the boat that runs to the Wilderness Lodge.  I think this is more fun than just catching the bus, though it actually will take a little longer!

I hope this helps.  The Wilderness Lodge is my absolute favorite resort.  Write back if you have any more questions!
