Staying at WL in late Jan with kids age 6,4,2. Really love the theme of WL, but wondering if we should pay the extra to stay at Poly for the sake of travel?? How much travel time would we save by staying at the Poly vs WL?? Thanks!

    Hi Jeanine,

I absolutely love the theme of the Wilderness Lodge, especially in January.  Having stayed at both of these resorts, I can tell you that I honestly don't think you would see a significant decrease in travel time by moving to the Polynesian.

Although I love the access to the Monorail that the Polynesian provides, it can be quite a production to get there.  If your room is not on the ground floor, you'll have to load everyone and their strollers into the elevator, go down to the ground floor and exit the longhouse.  You then have to walk to the Great Ceremonial house and load into another elevator to go up to the Monorail platform.  When staying at this resort it would actually be easier to request a building close to the Transportation and Ticket Center and simply walk there to catch the Monorail.

Personally, I would keep your Wilderness Lodge reservation.  I have always felt that this is the best "value" in deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World.  I love that the resort is in one building, so you can quickly and comfortably visit the gift shop or dining locations (great for rainy or chilly January days).  I also think that the ability to take your strollers directly onto the boats for transportation to the Magic Kingdom is a huge benefit.

I hope this helps, good luck with your decision!
