Hello and welcome to
planDisney, William.
You are really going to enjoy staying at
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and bringing along your best companion is going to make it that much better. We stay at The Fort (as it is lovingly referred to) several times a year and absolutely love it. Typically, we will rent a Cabin to stay at but this year we are also bringing down our travel trailer. Because of this, I've read up on the current pet policies the campground has in place. William, when making your reservation you will need to specify that you are bringing a dog with you, that way you'll be placed in a pet-friendly loop. There is an additional $5.00 a night upcharge for your furry friend. While you might not be specifically asked to provide the information, it is encouraged that your dog is up-to-date on the Rabies, Parvo, DHLP and Bordatella vaccines. I've never been asked for my records but it is possible that you might. So it is best to have these on hand. When you are out and about with your dog, it is required that they are leashed the entire time - except for at the dog park where they are free to roam and explore. The dog park is open from dawn to dusk and I've seen dogs thoroughly enjoy playing around over there.
When you leave for the day to enjoy the
Walt Disney World Theme Parks, your travel trailer will need to remain climate-controlled. If your pup is barking too much and there is a complaint or someone is worried about your dog inside, you may receive a phone call asking you to return to your campsite to check on your dog. If you don't want to leave your dog in your travel trailer while you are out, you can enroll him or her in doggie daycare at
Best Friends Pet Care on Walt Disney World Property. Because you are an on-property Guest, you will even receive a discount. Best Friends Pet Care is open one hour prior to the theme parks opening and stays open until one hour after the theme parks close giving Guests plenty of time to plan their day accordingly. It is really a great option if you know you are going to have a long day away from your campsite.
I hope this helps, William. If you have other questions about your stay at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm here to help.
Happy camping!
