Staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the 1st time next week with 2 kids (6 and 2). I've read mixed commentary on viewing the MK fireworks from the room. If it is true that I can see them, what side of the building and floor would you recommend? Thank you!

    Hi Debbie,

You are going to have so much fun at Disney's Wilderness Lodge!  It is my favorite resort in the whole world.  Just wait until you see the majestic seven-story lobby.  Be sure to listen for the crickets at night and don't miss the geyser that erupts hourly during the day.  Be sure to stop by the guest services desk to ask for a list of children's activities during your stay.  There are all kinds of fun activities including rubber duck races and night-time movies on the beach.  I wish I were going to be there next week too!

As for fireworks viewing, it is difficult to get a good view from the Wilderness Lodge.  When the Lodge was first built years ago, guests could get a nice view of the fireworks over the trees if you had a room on a high floor of the north wing of the resort.  The trees, however, are much taller now so the views of the fireworks are largely obstructed.  You can, however, see the enchanting Electrical Water Pageant every night from the beach at the Wilderness Lodge.  Stop by guest services to find out what time you should be stationed on the beach to catch this musical light show.  (Typically, it glides across Bay Lake around 9:35 pm).

If you really want to get a stunning view of the fireworks outside the theme park, head over to the beach at Disney's Polynesian Resort.  (Just grab a boat at Disney's Wilderness Lodge and then transfer to the monorail at the back of Disney's Contemporary Resort).  Your family will love the beautiful view of Wishes from this beach.  You might even want to grab a Dole Whip in Capt. Cook's (the quick service restaurant at the Polynesian) before the fireworks so you can enjoy a tasty frozen pineapple soft-serve treat while you watch the fireworks.  To me, that is pure heaven!

Wishing you and your family a vacation sprinkled with extra pixie dust!  Have fun!
