Staying at Wilderness Lodge in September, for a standard room, what is the best location to ask for? Traveling without children, what are the best areas of the resort for couples? Have stayed at POR, AK, CB and POF,,,how will the Wilderness lodge compare.

    Hello, Laurie,

You have a great "resort resume" already!  And I hope you'll find the Wilderness Lodge as amazing as my family has found it.  Since you've stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, you'll find it is quite similar to the Wilderness Lodge since they were both designed by the same architect, Peter Dominick. The basic layout of the overall resort is quite similar. In fact, the room layouts for each of the resorts are the same; both are also 344 square feet.

Rather than feeling like you've ventured into Africa, this resort transports guests into the Pacific Northwest.  You won't feel like you are in Central Florida!  In fact, you won't even realize how close you are to the Magic Kingdom, which is just a short boat ride away.

I'm gathering from your question that your standard room is also a Standard View (you could have a Woods View or Courtyard View with a standard room). If so, I'd request a room that is over the Whispering Canyon Cafe.  You'll be able to enjoy the lobby happenings (aside from the dinner bell at Whispering Canyon Cafe, we never heard lobby noise) and have a view that should be more than just a roof.

Enjoy exploring the resort. Our favorite spot was a little room over the main entrance: cozy furniture and fireplace, often overlooked by guests. We enjoy our morning coffee there. And if you are up for some fun, ask for the Hidden Mickey search from the front desk.

Please let us know if we can help again.  Have a magical trip!
