Yes and Yes! You’ll find yourself transported to the American West as you enter the Wilderness Lodge Villa lobby and find the Iron Spike room.
Your husband will love the memorabilia from the golden-age of train travel. This is truly a peaceful respite with some special artifacts.
Photos on the wall show Walt’s Carolwood Pacific Railroad. A one-eighth scale, intricately detailed railway which he designed in his backyard. Two of the actual cars, now reside in a glass case in the Iron Spike room in beautiful spot right in front of a window. Since they aren’t identified, many visitors are unaware of their true importance. Where can you find a replica of the locomotive? It’s hidden away at my favorite hotel. Inside the Grand Floridian’s Walt E. Disney suite. But this is even better, these are original cars on loan from the Disney family.
The Scenic Line of the West map is interesting to look over and even the fireplace screen adds to the train motif. This room is truly a tucked away tribute to Walt Disney.
Don’t forget to tour the other trains at WDW. Take a 1.5 mile circle around the Magic Kingdom. Hold on to your hat aboard the runaway train at Big Thunder Mountain. Travel aboard the Wildlife Express in the Animal Kingdom.
For your railfan, I would suggest the
Magic Behind Our Steam Trains 3 hour tour at the Magic Kingdom. It currently costs $40 and park admission is required. You can reserve a tour by calling (407) WDW-TOUR
You can order a cake by calling 407-827-2253. The white chocolate Cinderella slipper dessert can be pre-ordered with 48 hours notice through the Grand Floridian (GF) bakery at (407) 824-2578. This dessert is not available on regular menus and is exclusive to the GF restaurants and Cinderella’s Royal Table. The last price I saw was $14. Have your anniversary noted on your reservation at and remind the Cast Member at the podium!
