We will be staying at Wilderness Lodge in December. I would like to know how far it is to walk to the Wilderness Campground and is there a trail? Also is there a walkway to the main bus transportation area instead of waiting for a bus to take us there?

    Cindy:

Yes, there is a scenic trail from the lodge over to Fort Wilderness which is about a mile in length.

I'm a little unclear on your second question, though.  If you're asking if there is a walkway at Fort Wilderness that will lead you from the end of the trail (near the Settlement) to the Outpost where its main bus transportation is, then yes.  The mouth of the trail opens up near Pioneer Hall and you have the option to get on the internal bus that will take you to the front bus stop (The Outpost) OR you can walk down the fort's main thoroughfare to the front of the resort.  Be aware that this walk would be almost another 3/4 of a mile.

Our family camps often at the fort. If you need any other questions answered--or if I guessed wrong at your original question--just ask me via my bio page.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
