Staying at Ft. Wilderness, I see boats start late to Magic Kingdom. I want to be there 45min or so before opening as I've read is suggested to enjoy MainSt. Only option to go to Contemporary (earlier boats it seems) then monorail to MK?

    Hi Ryan!

We are often “residents” of the Fort Wilderness Resort so I am quite aware of the transportation issues that can arise from the resort.

If you would like to get to the Magic Kingdom Theme Park early then I do suggest you take the small boat to the Contemporary Resort. That boat will begin as early as 6:45am. The Magic Kingdom boats won’t begin until 30 minutes before park opening although I have seen them sooner then that in the past.

I would catch an early Contemporary/Wilderness lodge boat which will be on the right side of the marina pier. When you reach the Contemporary Resort do NOT get on the monorail but instead take the short walk to the park. This will only take you about ten minutes and is so much faster then depending on the monorail. You will cross the one street and then see the security station where you will go through that before you reach the park. This will save so much time and you can be in the entrance within minutes.

Just give yourself enough time to catch the boat and take the short walk to the park. I would allow 45 minutes for this trip to make sure you are there before the official opening ceremonies and Main Street. Enjoy!
