We will be staying at a WDW Resort hotel. Does Disney have a "Resort Doctor" for minor medical issues (ie, ear infections, flu, scrapes/bumps/bruises, etc.)? Or would we need to get a taxi & go to the ER in Orlando?

Hi Catherine!  You never want to go on vacation and have to worry about someone coming down with an illness. But it happens and it has happened to probably all of us even in the magical place like Walt Disney World.

I highly recommend the Docs On Call service if something does happen. My daughter got sick and the resort suggested I call them and a doctor was out immediately. She was able to be in bed and comfortable in the room versus having to get dressed and wait in a waiting room somewhere. She ended up with strep and needed antibiotics and the doctor who arrived was able to give her the first dose and had a pharmacy deliver the rest to the resort. We never had to worry about a thing except getting her better quickly so she could enjoy at least part of the trip.

Two other options include Buena Vista Urgent Care and Centra Care which are located close to the Disney property. Both offer free shuttle service so you would never need to pay for a taxi to get your needs met at either location.

Talk to your resort for their best suggestion and assistance with the latest phone numbers and hours for all these options. Hopefully you will not need to even consider using any of them.

And please don't forget that each of the Disney parks including the water parks will have a staffed First Aid Station to take care of the minor issues such as upset stomachs, heat exhaustion, blisters, headaches, and scrapes. You can find the locations of each on the park maps or stop at the Guest Relations to get directions.

Here's to a healthy and happy Walt Disney World vacation!
