Hi! We will be staying at WDW this May. We booked a standard room at the Polynesian. How crazy were we to do this with a 20 mo old and 4 yr old in tow?! Any helpful tips for napping/ bedtime or the possible dreaded early wake ups? Thanks in advance!!

    Hi, there!

Oh, Suzy - you're not crazy in the least. I truly believe the Walt Disney World Resort is the very best vacation destination for families with little ones in tow! I'm thrilled to help you plan a magical stay.

If your kiddos are early-risers, use that to your advantage! The first hour of the day is the very best time to avoid crowds in theme parks, so you'll be all set to get there early. When my kids wake, they get to eat breakfast in bed! This is a special treat when we're staying at a Disney Resort hotel. My family always places an order with Garden Grocer prior to our arrival, and we're sure to order breakfast items for our room like bananas, yogurts, cereal, and breakfast bars. The kids eat and watch Disney cartoons while my husband and I prep for a day in the theme parks, and then we're out the door and on our way!

We use that first hour of the morning to experience as many attractions as we can with little to no wait. Then, we start using our FastPass+ selections to bypass standby lines throughout the late morning. We usually grab an early lunch, hop on another attraction or two, and then we head back to our Resort hotel for an afternoon break around 1:00 PM.

To keep your little ones sleeping soundly in your Resort hotel room, pack a few comforts of home like a special blanket or a "lovie." I also pack a sound machine to block out any surrounding noise. Be sure to use those convenient black-out curtains in your room too. You may have no trouble getting your kiddos to fall asleep; mine often fall asleep in the double stroller before we even get to our room!

I hope this was helpful, Suzy. I have lots of additional tips for you, so please let me know if you have any other questions!
