Welcome aboard, John! Please stand clear of the doors as planDisney whisks you on your way to a magical vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort!
Getting around Walt Disney World is almost as easy as hopping aboard a
Magic Carpet. Your mode of transportation will vary depending on where you're staying and where you're headed, but there are
lots of choices available to ride, float, or fly.
Let's start with your second question, though, because I think there's a transportation element that you might consider. When you're traveling with toddlers, you want quick and easy access to the theme parks, so your best bet may be one of the Resort hotels along the
monorail line, which include
Disney's Contemporary Resort,
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. They're all right next to the Magic Kingdom Park, where you'll likely spend a lot of time with your little ones. Plus, after an action-packed morning, you can roll the stroller right into the monorail car and be back in your room in minutes for the all-important midday nap. They have wonderful accommodations, fun pools and kids' activities, and they're right in the middle of everything. You can also easily reach EPCOT by monorail from these Resort hotels (that line is closed as I write this, but hopefully will reopen soon), and the other parks by bus.
Otherwise, you'll find that all of the Disney Resorts Collection hotels are
served by buses that take you to the theme parks, water parks, or Disney Springs. Some Resort hotels, like those in the EPCOT area, and
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and
Disney's Wilderness Lodge, also have
boat transportation to select parks. And my new favorite, the
Disney Skyliner, serves several Resort hotels with high-flying gondolas, including another totally kid-friendly favorite,
Disney's Art of Animation Resort.
While we don't have actual Magic Carpets just yet, John, I hope this helps you plan your way around the Walt Disney World Resort in style. Please hop on back over and see us again if you have any more questions!
Keep Disney Dreaming,
Kathy K.
