Thank you so much for the question! The only way to add on the Disney Dining Plan when you reserve a room only is if you are a Disney Vacation Club Member or an Annual Passholder. Anyone else will need to book a Magic Your Way Package to take advantage of the Dining Plan. If you are renting the villa from a DVC Member, they could book the Disney Dining Plan for you. This will need to be paid in full at the time of purchase for your entire length of stay. Since I am not sure how you booked the reservation, I wanted to give you all the options for purchasing the DDP without a package deal.
I would recommend eating at buffets for your Table Service Meals. The Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom would be a great choice for you! Other buffets are the Garden Grill at Epcot, Tusker House at the Animal Kingdom, the Biergarten at Epcot, Liberty Tree Tavern at the Magic Kingdom, the Hollywood & Vine at Hollywood Studios, 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian, and Ohana at the Polynesian Resort. This way he will have several options and won't eat your entire meal! At the Quick Service restaurants, he can share your meal or you can purchase a toddler meal for him such as macaroni and cheese. Please let me know if I can help you further with your vacation planning, Merideth!
