Mina,
Thanks for your question to planDisney!
I am a big fan of using
Disney Resort Transportation whenever possible. I find it relaxing to not worry about a car. In some cases, like the
Disney Skyliner, the
boats, and the
monorail, the ride can also be an attraction unto itself!
However, if you have a car, it will significantly shorten your travel time, and make it easier to get back to your resort in the evening after park closing. Lines for buses back to the hotels can be a bit long at park closing, but your car will be there and ready to go.
BONUS TIP #1If you do drive, I recommend you move your car from one theme park's lot to the other, rather than relying on Disney Resort Transportation to get back to your initial park at the end of the evening. Why? In your particular example, if you were to go to
Disney's Hollywood Studios in the morning and park your car there, followed by hopping to
EPCOT for dinner and fireworks by way of the Disney Skyliner, you would still have to ride the Skyliner back to Hollywood Studios before finding your car at the end of the night. In the evening, immediately after the fireworks, the wait for the Skyliner can actually get a bit long. But if you had moved your car over in the afternoon when you park hopped, your ride home to
Disney's All-Star Movies Resort would be right there at EPCOT, waiting for you.
Your chariot awaits!BONUS TIP #2When you have a car at a Disney resort, you will be charged a daily
parking fee. But included with this fee, the parking in the theme parks is partially covered. You only pay the difference between that daily theme park fee and what your resort charges.
BONUS TIP #3
If you change parks during the day, your parking pass purchased at your first park can be applied to the other theme parks that same day. So, you don't have to keep paying if you Park Hop!
BONUS TIP #4New to some guests is the Preferred Parking option at the theme parks. These spots are closer to the theme park entrances, so if time is of the essence, you may want to pay a bit more for this perk.
BONUS TIP #5
The courtesy trams have returned to the parking lots at the
Magic Kingdom Park and are reported by Disney to be returning to the other parks throughout 2022! Keep an eye out on the
Disney Parks Blog for announcements of their return to other parks.
Those are a lot of tips! Write us back if you have any follow-up questions.
Have a Magical Vacation!Doug
