Hey there Jason, and a very warm planDisney welcome to a fellow Canadian!
I'm so glad you asked me this question; we're currently with a number of folks journeying from Ontario to escape the chilly weather up north and a few of them are staying at
Disney's All-Star Sports Resort this week! I took the liberty of heading over to check out their accommodations and ask the Cast Members at the resort about any ongoing room renovations.
You'll be happy to hear that the refurbishments across the resort are mostly completed - our friends and family were delighted to find refreshed rooms as they arrived! The room I visited at the Homerun Hotel section felt new from the floors to the furniture, including Murphy beds that provided the option for much-needed space. I spoke with a few Cast Members on property who say that there may be a few rooms and locations with work underway towards the Hoops Hotel and Surf's Up buildings, but they're confident that it is still on track to be completed early this year. However, the resort itself feels fresh with bright new coats of paint and it definitely looks like they're nearly complete - so I hope that you'll have a better chance of more renovated rooms by the time you come down!
Be sure to check out the
End Zone Food Court during your stay;
currently on the menu is the MVP Cupcake which tastes like a crunchy popcorn/apple pie explosion in your mouth and I hope that it's still there when you visit! My family's very first stay at Walt Disney World Resort was at
Disney's All-Star Movies Resort and the sheer size of theming elements amazed me as a kid so it's always great to see the
Value Resort Hotels receiving some love and attention both inside and outside.
Speaking of refurbishments, I highly recommend checking out the
interactive park hours calendar and select the dates of your visit to check what rides or attractions may not be available due to ongoing work. While construction timelines may be subject to change, these may include
Splash Mountain,
Kali River Rapids and
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith; hopefully this will help you plan your days during your stay.
Please come back to
ask me any questions you might have, I'm always happy to help any fellow Canucks in need of knowledge ahead of their journey. Like I always say before embarking on any expedition: it's always better to know whether your bridge is fully completed before you attempt to cross it!
Wishing you all the best on your All-Star Adventure,
Prince
