staying @ all star music resort, but wanting to check out other resorts for fun. if you had to pick a few to take in which would you pick? already planning to see animal and wilderness with boma and whispering breakfast...staying april 2009. thanks!

Visiting the resorts is one of my favorite things to do, and you have already selected some of our traditional choices and must-dos on our trips (Bomas is our #1 restaurant!).  The Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge are such amazing resorts with their grand lobbies.  Similarly, the Grand Floridian is equally wonderful and a great escape for a break during a day at the Magic Kingdom.  We usually go over for lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe, but you may also enjoy the character meal at 1900 Park Fare.  We've even grabbed food to go at their quick service restaurant Gasparilla Grill and taken it up to the balcony just outside the shops on the second floor where we've had the balcony all to ourselves.  It has beautiful views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and pool --- sooooo relaxing!

The Polynesian is also a treat with its beautiful garden in the lobby and its little bit of "kitsch."  We like to take the monorail over to the Ticket and Transportation Center and then walk through the gardens, especially in the evening when the torches are lit throughout the grounds.  Kona Cafe is lovely quieter restaurant while 'ohanas is lively with a character breakfast as well as a yummy dinner; some tables even have views of the evening fireworks.

Finally, the Contemporary is worth a visit to see the Grand Canyon Concourse and watch the monorail zipping through the resort.  Chef Mickey's is a favorite to dine with Mickey and his buddies while the California Grill is an elegant dining experience with its panoramic view of the WDW resort.
