Hi David! Welcome to planDisney!
It sounds like you are planning an amazing holiday at the
Walt Disney World Resort next year! Even better yet, having the chance to celebrate your wife's birthday sounds like the icing on the cake.
You'll be happy to know that you can book two
Disney Resort hotels for your stay, although this will require you to book them separately from each other. Every Disney Resort hotel reservation requires a unique reservation code.
When booking the main portion of your stay at
Disney's All-Star Movies Resort, this is the reservation you will want to add your park tickets and potentially the Disney Dining Plan to. The additional reservation at
Disney's Art of Animation Resort will be a room-only reservation for the couple of nights you plan to stay there. You'll need to book this either before or after the All-Star Movies reservation; otherwise, it may cause issues with the rest of your booking. If you were planning to stay at All-Star Movies, then hop to Art of Animation for a couple of nights, then back to All-Star Movies, this will require booking three resort reservations. Essentially, every time you check out of one resort to change to another, a separate reservation will need to be made.
David, hopping from resort to resort is a common practice among many Guests. The easiest option for your stay will be to plan the surprise visit for the first two nights upon arrival, then switch to All-Star Movies for the remainder of your holiday.
I hope this information helps you plan for your trip!
