Hi, we staying at shades of green and doing the 4 days park hopper, how much spending money would you recommend? we are a fam of 4, 2 kids, girl 5 and boy 3. What is a must see/do for my kids? what 1 character dinning would you recommend? Thanks so much:)

    Hi Monica,

You are going to have an amazing trip!  How much spending money you bring is such an individual question.  Basically, you're going to need money for food and souvenirs.  If you dine mainly at quick service locations, you'll obviously need less money than if you plan on eating at some of the great table service restaurants in Walt Disney World.

Souvenirs -  we generally budget about $50 per child and $75 - $100 for adults.  This will allow you to buy a pair of Mickey ears or a t-shirt for your kids and one or two trinket/toys.

Food - to be on the safe side, I plan on $60 per day for adults and $30 for children.  That usually factors in one table service experience.  You'll probably do it for less, but you could also spend a whole lot more.  I think that's a safe average.

Character meals - this is a tough one.  Where you go really depends on who your family most wants to see.  If you want the basic Mickey experience, then Chef Mickey's is my number one choice.  However, it can be tough to get a reservation.  Garden Grill at Epcot is a much more low key experience, and our kids love seeing Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale.

My favorite character dining experience for kids, if you're looking for something different is breakfast with the Disney Junior characters at Hollywood & Vine in Hollywood Studios.  The food is great, and if your kids watch Disney Junior shows, it's like they are meeting rock stars!

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
