Hi, we'll be staying at Shades of Green this coming September. Are we able to get a Key to the World card? If so, where can we get one?

Hello there, Barrie, and welcome to planDisney.

As a military spouse myself, I want to begin with a thank you from my military family to yours! A Walt Disney World vacation is the perfect place to bring the family back together for a much-needed break. My husband says a Disney Vacation is a good escape from the day-to-day reality. Plus, we usually add in a nice little resort break day to give us some downtime by the pool or to find the next best Mickey-shaped treat. His go-to are the beignets from Port Orleans-French Quarter. We always break away from the theme parks for a little bit to grab a plate of those. If you haven't tried them yet, it's a must!

Guests staying at Shade of Green do not get a Key to the World card; instead, you’ll get a standard room key to access your resort. You do have alternate options to access the theme parks with your theme park ticket, though. The first is with a MagicBand+! Even though you can’t use your MagicBand to access your room, you can use it to enter the theme parks after linking your theme park ticket. You can also use it to access your Lightning Lane selections and interact with Nighttime Spectaculars. And, it also doubles as a fun accessory!

Another option, which is my husband’s preferred method, is Disney MagicMobile Service. After linking your tickets. You can set up your pass and store it in your mobile digital wallet. It will work similarly to a MagicBand, just all compacted into your mobile device. The only major difference between these two options and a Key to the World card is that you can’t make charge purchases to your room.

You’ll have to use a different form of payment to complete your purchases. My favorite form of payment, when we aren’t charging on our MagicBand, is using a Disney Gift Card. I have a digital one linked to my mobile wallet, and I reload it online before each visit. It’s an easy way to stay on budget and pay, since it's right there on my phone, which is usually in my hand, taking pictures anyway.

Barrie, I hope this helps answer your question and guides you to finding your perfect fit like Cinderella did with her glass slipper. Enjoy your visit, and if there’s anything else we can help with, please let us know!

    Magical Memories.

Meet the Panelist: Shantel, Alabama

Hi ya Pals! I'm Shantel, an Army wife and mom of two. I grew up going to the parks, and now we're sharing that tradition with our kids. When I am not visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, I'm at home researching and planning for our next trip. One of my favorite things to do is search for new snacks to try, especially if they are Mickey shaped. I'm definitely living the dream my heart wished for! I cannot wait to answer your questions and help make your vacation even more magical!
