We are staying at Saratoga Springs resort in November to celebrate my husbands retirement from the UK Police force- can we let the resort know in advance so they could surprise him by wishing him a happy retirement? Thanks

    Hi Crystal,

Congratulations to your husband on his retirement!  A stay at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will be a great way to honor this achievement.

When you make your resort reservation, I suggest that you ask that your celebration be noted on your reservation.  I also recommend doing the same for any dining reservations that you make.  You can do this simply by asking the cast member who is helping you to make the reservations, or your travel agent if you are working with one.  Although no extra magic is guaranteed, you never know when a little extra pixie dust might be sprinkled on your celebration.  I also suggest that you get the free "I'm celebrating!" pins available at Guest Relations at any theme park.  Your husband can write "My retirement" on his and you can write "My husband's retirement" on yours.  Again, you never know when a little surprise might come your way, and even if not, it is fun to hear other cast members and guests alike wishing you well.

As to a surprise at the resort, we have been very happy in the past working with Disney Floral and Gifts.  They can help you to customize and personalize a gift or in-room celebration for just about any occasion.  I checked with them, and they do not do delivery of gifts at check-in; however, you can arrange for a gift to be delivered to your room on the day you arrive.  My husband did this for me on the day we arrived for a trip to celebrate my graduation.  I was surprised and delighted to come back to a room decorated with a banner, balloons, a Mickey Mouse plush, and so much more!

I hope that these ideas are helpful for you, Crystal.  Have a wonderful time planning your vacation, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
