There are 8 staying in our 3 room villa for 10 days, but 4 more will stay on 4 days. If buying the dinning plan, do I have to buy for 12 people, even though, there will only be 12 of us for a total of 4 days?

    Hi, Ken!

Regarding the Disney Dining Plan, you do need to purchase the Dining Plan for everyone who is staying with you on your reservation for every night of your stay. However, those dining entitlements are all put into one account, giving you a total balance from the start of your stay. Perhaps those "extra" entitlements could be used toward Signature Dining, which requires two Table-Service entitlements. You could also enjoy those "extra" Quick-Service meals by grabbing a delicious breakfast or lunch that you would normally have had to prepare in your villa or paid for out-of-pocket. You might find some great items that count as QS which would be very convenient to keep in your fridge, too. While at Bay Lake Tower, we picked up some great sliced fruit for my daughter, using QS credits, so that there was always something healthy to eat as soon as she woke up in the morning or came in from an exhausting day in the parks. In addition,  I always stock our freezer, too, with Mickey Bars and ice cream sandwiches, both of which count as snacks on the Dining Plan.

In short, while you will have to take the DP for everyone in your party for each night of your reservation, think outside the box when planning on how to spend those entitlements. Send me another question including which resort you'll call home, dates of your stay and if you've considered which restaurants you'll visit thus far. I'd be happy to help you get the most of that Dining Plan, Ken!

On another note, if you'd rather NOT purchase the DP for Guests who will not be joining you for the entire stay, Disney Vacation Club Members and Annual Passholders are able to purchase the Tables in Wonderland Card; this card entitles the Cardholder and up to 9 additional Guests a 20% discount on most Table-Service restaurants. This might be a better option for you, if your either a DVC Member or an Annual Passholder. I'd be happy to send you more information on this great money-saver, too, Ken!
