Hi there Melissa, and very warm wedding welcome to planDisney!
As
a Disney Groom myself whose Disney Wedding was featured this year, I know how important it is to have a good idea of the ins and outs of how to get you and your guests to each of your venues during your wedding week, and we actually considered Paddlefish as one of our options after seeing it on the Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings series as we explored a nautical vibe for our big day! After years researching and becoming an expert on Disney Weddings on behalf of Disney couples everywhere, I'm happy to lend a bit of logistical knowledge for your upcoming nuptials this spring:
- Having a wedding at Paddlefish has been a great cost-effective alternative for many fellow DisBrides and DisGrooms looking to have a wedding at Walt Disney World Resort since they began offering the chance for intimate ceremonies and celebrations to take place up on the decks overlooking the rooftops of Disney Springs. It's also well-situated for anyone taking the Sassagoula River Cruise boats to make your way over after getting ready at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside; it really is the best way to travel for the venues you've chosen and there's something really special about being able to walk past fellow guests congratulating you on your big day as you sail past the spot where you'll tie the knot!
- I'd recommend scheduling a ride just in case you're running a little behind, or if there are any special members of your wedding party that should arrive sooner to set up any items ahead of your arrival to Paddlefish. You'll still need to pass through the security screening either way adjacent to the Disney Springs Marketplace Dock and the passenger drop off, and I recommend taking the route that passes Rainforest Cafe for the most accessible way over to your wedding and rehearsal dinner at The Edison.
It's important to note that there have been times when boat transportation has not always been available and services were temporarily suspended last year; when this occurs bus transportation becomes available for guests. Personally I would recommend taking the boats not only for the complimentary leisurely ride, but for the scenic views and the relaxing journey you and your guests will have heading there and back together as a group. (In my opinion, it's just that much more magical than squeezing into the back of several vehicles if you're not in a time crunch!)
I highly recommend checking out the
Ever After Blog and the Disney Wedding Podcast for tips and ideas from other real couples, as well as the groups online where fellow DisBrides to share their experiences. You're always welcome to come back to

Wishing you both the best as you reach out and find your Happily Ever After!
