Hello there, Holly!
Like Disney’s Moana, it sounds like you are looking to go to the line where the sky meets the sea and enjoy some quality time on the water. Fishing and taking advantage of the recreational activities at the Walt Disney World Resort is one of my favorite activities outside of visiting the Walt Disney World theme parks.
Whether you are looking to book a
guided fishing excursion or planning to fish dockside at
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- Riverside, you don’t need a Florida fishing license for either of these experiences. The guided fishing excursions include a guide, rod and reel, tackle, artificial and/or live bait, and assorted Coca-Cola beverages. In contrast, the dockside fishing at Fishin’ Hole at Ol’ Man Island has pole and bait rentals available for purchase.
Make sure everyone in your party is ready to practice a bit of patience. Fishing definitely requires a specific mindset, and patience is key. If, for whatever reason, you don’t have much fishing luck that day, I recommend sweetening the deal by making a trip to the
Scat Cat’s Club - Cafe at Disney’s Port Orleans - French Quarter for a Mickey-shaped beignet. This sweet treat is guaranteed to delight.
May the magic be with you!Melanie
