We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside in March -- My mom just had knee surgery -- she has a doctors note to get a room on the first floor and near the food court. My question is should I check in online or wait to until I get to the resort to check in?

    Hi there, Kellie!

The Walt Disney World Resort does not actually assign your room/s until the day you arrive. This ensures that the Resort will have the most accurate count of rooms available and will also make sure that a certain number of rooms are held aside for Guests with particular requirements.

You will want definitely want your request noted in your vacation documentation. Online, you'll find the Special Needs Request Form. Because your travel date is within the 30-day window specified on the form (assuming you are traveling this month), give a call to (407) W-DISNEY and make the Cast Member aware of the issue.

Have a wonderful time, and wish your mother a speedy recovery from all of the Moms!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
