Hello, Summer! Welcome to planDisney! I'm so glad you're here!
My husband loves to fish. In fact, he's on a boat off the Gulf Coast of Florida as I type this! There are multiple options for fishing at
Walt Disney World Resort. Dockside Fishing at the Fishin' Hole at Ol' Man Island is one of them. As you know, this is located at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. I recently spoke with a helpful Cast Member who told me that you are welcome to bring your own equipment. You can also rent equipment there, if you prefer.
You can also book a
Fishing Excursion with an experienced guide. You can bring your own equipment or use the provided rod, reel, tackle, and bait. You'll choose between a Sun Tracker Fishin' Barge pontoon and a tournament-style Nitro bass fishing boat, and the 2-hour and 4-hour options. These are available at various Disney Resort hotels. Just give them a call at the number provided to reserve a time. I've heard about several great experiences doing this, so I'm hoping to book this later this year.
You are going to love Port Orleans - Riverside! In the morning, take a stroll along the Sassagoula River. It's a beautiful resort that feels like you've stepped back in time to Louisiana with charming gardens and elegant mansions. Try to catch
YeHaa Bob Jackson at
River Roost one evening. It's a family-friendly show that will have everyone laughing and singing along! River Roost serves great cocktails and mocktails, along with a selection of appetizers (I like the Andouille Nachos). One afternoon, ride the boat (or walk) over to
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. Head to
Scat Cat's Club - Cafe for Mickey Beignets. Get extra napkins. Trust me.
Have the best time and make the most magical memories, Summer! If you have any more questions, I hope we'll see you back here at
planDisney!
Always dreaming -
Elizabeth
