We are staying at the Port Orleans Riverside between Christmas and New Years this year. What are the travel times from the Port Orleans Riverside to each of the parks? Thank you.

    Jan:

I like to use the Transportation Wizard at ourlaughingplace.com to calculate travel times at Disney World, especially if I'm considering not taking my car and using Disney transportation. From Port Orleans: Riverside, here are approximate travel times:

    • Animal Kingdom: By car, you're looking at a 15- to 20-minute drive but according to the Transportation Wizard, a Disney bus now stops at one of the water parks, making the trip almost 45 minutes long. If you add on stops around the POR resort as well as simply waiting on the bus, your total transfer could be as long as an hour.
    • Epcot: Probably the closest in proximity to POR, I can get to the parking lot in 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic at the gate. By bus, the Transportation Wizard says 26 minutes... it may be including a stop at the Port Orleans: French Quarter, but if you're going in the morning or in the evening, you should get a bus headed directly to Epcot.
    • Hollywood Studios: By car, it takes me about 10 minutes and a Disney bus takes about 15 minutes. The last time I stayed at POFQ, this was the only theme park that included a stop at both POR and POFQ in the morning and evening as well as during the day.
    • Magic Kingdom: This is the one theme park to which I always take Disney transportation. The bus ride is less than 20 minutes and drops you off within a short walk of the gate. The car ride is about the same but you must walk to a parking lot tram if you aren't there when the park opens and then transfer to the ferry or monorail to get to the park gate for a transfer time that can take as long as 40 to 45 minutes.

Disney constantly monitors its bus routes and passenger counts. Keep in mind that the bus to Port Orleans: Riverside may also stop (especially during the early afternoon when passenger count is low) at Port Orleans: French Quarter.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
