We will be staying at Port Orleans French Quarter when we go next year, how long are the bus rides to each park? We have always stayed at the Boardwalk so travel time was pretty quick to the parks.

    Hi Natasha,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Welcome back for another magical Walt Disney World vacation.

Port Orleans French Quarter is one of my favorite resorts, the one where my family chose to spend Christmas this year. We love the intimate feel of the small resort, its New Orleans theme and its lush grounds.

We also like the resort's central location. While you won't be able to walk from Port Orleans French Quarter to Epcot and Hollywood Studios as you can from the Boardwalk resort, I think you will find that transportation times are reasonable on the Disney buses. The one French Quarter bus station, with service to all the theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs, is near the front entrance. Once the bus leaves the resort, it's a 10- to 20-minute ride to the entrance of each theme park.

You may even find its bus service a little more expeditious than Boardwalk's because Port Orleans French Quarter does not share service with other resorts.

If you plan a visit to Disney Springs for shopping, dining or entertainment, you can take a water taxi from French Quarter down the Sassagoula River. It's a pretty journey, past the Saratoga Springs resort, but it is leisurely. And because the boats have a more limited capacity than the buses, you may not be able to board the first water taxi that arrives at the dock. If you are in a hurry, a bus is usually faster.

I don't like feeling rushed on vacation, so I always try to allow an hour for transportation, no matter where I'm staying. That way, there's no stress about missing a FastPass+ or dining reservation time, and I can sit back and relax during the journey.

I hope you enjoy your stay at Port Orleans French Quarter, Natasha. And make sure you treat yourself to a hot Mickey-shaped beignet (or more than one!) from the Scat Cat's Club Cafe. As they say in New Orleans, "Laissez les bons temps rouler"!
