We are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter and have a dinner reservation at Kona Café. What is the best way to get there and how long should it take?

    Hi Linda,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. Kona Café is one of my favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World, and I’m so excited to hear you’ll be dining there.

From Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, you’ll take Walt Disney World Bus Transportation to Magic Kingdom Park, and then either a resort monorail or water taxi service to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Because you’ll need to transfer between your bus and the boat or monorail, give yourself at least one hour for the trip. If you’re early, it’s absolutely lovely to relax in the resort’s lobby (it smells amazing and is gorgeously themed) or wander the resort grounds.

Another option is to use Disney’s Minnie Van Service or Uber, Lyft, or a taxi. These options will be faster (likely around 20 minutes door-to-door), but do come at an out-of-pocket cost to you, so it’s really up to you and your budget which you prefer. The boat or monorail from Magic Kingdom Park to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are both lovely, and Minnie Van service is an adorable way to get around with a little Disney magic.

Linda, enjoy your meal at Kona Café. My very favorite cocktail at Walt Disney World is the Lapu Lapu, which is a tropical cocktail served in an actual pineapple (delicious and a great photo opportunity!). I also loved the Kilauea Torte, which is a rich, warm chocolate “volcano” dessert. You really can’t go wrong with this fantastic menu – bon appétit!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
