Hiya Terrie!
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for sending us this magical question! I love that you want to take advantage of Florida's beautiful weather by doing some physical activity, and there are many ways to do so! Besides, Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort is such a beautiful hotel, so I do not blame you for wanting to visit!
After
chatting with a Cast Member, I was advised that the trails are meant to be used by Guests staying at the Resort. Indeed, if you were to drive to the Resort, you would have to provide proof of a Resort room reservation or that you are eligible for
complimentary day parking. In addition, I would not recommend biking from your Resort to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, as these are main roads that are quite busy and not bike-friendly.
Do not fret, however, as there are so many other ways to get some exercise done throughout the Resort! Indeed, there are areas where you can
bike around Disney's Port Orleans Resort, some of which are by the gorgeous waterfront promenade. In addition, many of the Resorts have walking trails to and from the theme parks, which you can also use for a nice leisurely walk. For example, the brand new walkway connecting
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa would be a nice way to enjoy the weather while also discovering something new. Lastly, I would highly recommend that you visit some of the walking trails at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park or even book a special tour! Personally, I love going on the
Wild Africa Trek as it is a three-hour walking trek, which is a great way to spend time outside while also learning about the animals who call the theme park their home. While the Wild Africa Trek is quite popular, you may have better luck finding availability for the
other tours or by simply visiting the trails available to the public in
Africa and
Asia.
I hope this was helpful, Terrie, and that you will have the most magical time on your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort trip. If you have any other questions in the time leading up to your trip, please don't hesitate to reach back out. As Russell always says: "the wilderness must be explored!"
Have a magical day,
Ariane
