Staying at POR and want to watch Wishes (@ 9) on Polynesian beach on March 3. Would like to take bus to Epcot, then monorail to MK, visit GF, Contemporary and finish at Polynesian. What time should we leave POR? Thanks!

    Danielle:

Although the quickest way to get to the Polynesian from Port Orleans Riverside using Disney transportation is to take a bus to Magic Kingdom and then transfer to the resort monorail, taking a total of about 45 minutes to an hour depending on your waits, here is the timeline for the journey you have in mind:

    1. Give yourself 30 to 45 minutes for bus ride from POR to Epcot. Once you're at Epcot, you'll take a 7-minute walk up to the monorail along with a wait of around 5 to 10 minutes for it.
    2. Because the monorail does not go directly from Epcot to the Magic Kingdom but makes you transfer to a separate monorail at the Ticket & Transportation Center, you may find that you'll want to consider re-ordering your plan to visit the Grand Floridian first, take in Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary and then on to the Polynesian. The total time to get from Epcot to the TTC is about 20 minutes and the transfer and the ride around the Magic Kingdom resorts and back to the Polynesian will be approximately 30 minutes.
    3. I'm not sure how much time you want at the Grand Floridian so keep in mind that your travel time has added up at this point to about 1 hour and 40 minutes to 2 hours. There are shops on two levels at the Grand Floridian and even if you walked through hurriedly, it will take about 30 minutes to visit Basin, the men's and women's shops and the hotel's gift shop.
    4. Once you're at the Polynesian, it may take you a good 15 minutes to find a spot to view the fireworks considering the addition of the new DVC villas that may block the view of the fireworks from the majority of the beach. With these timelines, I would recommend setting out from the Port Orleans at the latest by 6:15 p.m. if you want to stick with your plan.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
