Staying POR Thanksgiving, paid preferred room req. Alligator Bayou, 3 of us, could we be bumped from that if another family needs 5 person accomodations? 3 of our dining res. say we could be split, what are chances of that really happening with 3 people?

A Thanksgiving trip sounds like so much fun, Veronica!  As for your room request, those are never guaranteed.  When staying at Port Orleans Riverside with a party of three, my family was assigned a Magnolia Bend room.  I can tell you, though, that the room assigner will do his or her best to grant your request if it is available.  If staying in the mansions would put a damper on your trip, you might be better off switching resorts just to be sure.  With regard to being split between tables at a restaurant, I would be less concerned about that than the resort room request.  I've been on the receiving end of that same split table warning a number of times, but it's actually only happened once (at Liberty Tree Tavern).  Even then, our party was seated at two tables right next to each other.  Of course, you have to be prepared that it could happen, but--at least in my experience--it's probably not all that likely.  Enjoy your trip!

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
