Hi Tania!
Welcome BACK to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm excited that you're staying at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside as I just had a fantastic stay there in May! Four mom friends took our collective five children, all under the age of three, for a week of fun and we all loved this resort.
When looking at a
map of Riverside, the resort looks HUGE! But I can assure you that the walk from the middle rooms of building 35 (where we stayed; zoom in to see building numbers) to the lobby wasn't that bad. It took maybe 15 minutes with our whole brood in tow, but it was really peaceful and surrounded by nature. To be close to the main lobby building, which is where you'll find the Riverside Mill Quick-Service Dining location, ask to be as close to the river as you can get. Specifically for close-to-the-action buildings, I would recommend buildings 14-18 as well as 27 in the Alligator Bayou section, or buildings 90 and 95 if you happened to book a Royal Room.
Do note that there are four bus stops at this Resort Hotel, and the bus depot at the main lobby is stop number four. There are usually duplicate buses going to the same locations in the early morning to help get everyone where they'd like to go, but later in the afternoon if a bus is full after the first (West Depot) or second (North Depot) stop, then it will go on and those at the other two locations will have to wait for the next bus. So personally, I would ask for a room in building 26-28, 38, 39, or 80 to be in the middle of those two first bus stops and not too far from the lobby building. Pro Tip: Ask for a first floor room if staying in the Alligator Bayou section (building numbers lower than 40) as these buildings do not have elevators.
I hope this helped, Tania!
