    we are staying at POR Riverside - could we drive to Epcot and then ride monorail to MK or would that take longer in the end?

    It will take longer in the end.  I had that very same thought a few years ago.  What I failed to calculate into the equation was that when taking the monorail to the Magic Kingdom from EPCOT one must get off the monorail at the Transportation Center. Then one must walk down a ramp and back up the ramp to pick up the next monorail to the Magic Kingdom.  It would be faster to either take the bus or drive to the Transportation Center and then take the monorail or the boat.  Good luck!!
