We are staying at POR and want to pack light so our room is cluttered w/luggage and clothes! Are there laundry services on site? if so, how much is the cost to use the washers/dryers and laundry detergent? Also, and storage tips for the room?

    Hi, Mandi!

My son and I just returned from Disney's Port Orleans-RIverside and loved it! What a great choice!

Packing light is a great idea; it's easy to do with the self-service laundry facilities at each quiet pool. You won't have to go very far to throw in a load or two of laundry. Washing or drying a load of laundry costs $4, and you can also purchase detergent for a load for $1. We brought our own laundry tablets and dryer sheets, though, since they pack so easily and I wanted to know ahead of time which detergent we'd be using.

We used the very handy 4 hooks on the wall above a small storage bench to hang baseball hats, umbrellas and ponchos. There were several deep drawers, each of which stored one person's clothes  and used the large, deep shelf under the double-vanity sink to store anything pharmaceutical. I pack like items in gallon-sized zipper bags, so that these bags can be stood up on shelves, side by side and stowed when finished. Put every item back into the bag when finished with it each day and packing will be a breeze!

Snacks for the room were stored on the top shelf of the very large TV unit / bureau, and we stocked the refrigerator with juice boxes, chocolate milk boxes, water bottles and fruit either packed or purchased earlier in the day.

A shelf at the window of the room ends well before the wall, leaving enough room for our two carry-on suitcases, as well as another bag or two. Because the round table and two chairs are on that same wall, those suitcases in the corner were completely out of the way.

Don't be afraid to call Housekeeping and ask for as many additional hangers as you'd like. The hanging area in the bathroom is very generous; you'll probably be able to hang most of your garments there, as long as you have the hangers to do so. We asked for 20 and they were delivered in 15 minutes. Clutter solved.

Send more questions as you think of them; I'd love to help!
