Staying at POR, how long would it take to drive my car to each park? Or should I take the bus from POR to each park?

    Hi Krista,

Welcome to the Moms Panel!  This is a great question, and I know that I may be in the minority of Moms here because I prefer to use our own vehicle to navigate the Walt Disney World Property.

I would say that you are looking on a 10-20 minute trip to visit the theme parks from Port Orleans Riverside if using your own vehicle.  The layout of the resort really makes it user friendly for guest with vehicles, as your room could quite possibly be closer to your vehicle than the bus stop.  Typically wait times can be up to 20 minutes to see a bus, so you could essentially be in the theme park parking lot  before a bus ever arrives.  For the record though, in my experiences with the Walt Disney World busses we have never waited 20 minutes.

The parking is free for Walt Disney World resort guests, and I simply like the quiet after a long day.  The ride back is a stress-free wind down opportunity for our family, unlike a very crowded park bus.

If you plan on using your vehicle, I suggest you get a road map of the property prior to your arrival.  The roads are clearly marked, and there is ample signage to help you reach your destination, but it helps to have a general grasp of where you're heading.  Getting lost would waste precious park time!

Hope this was helpful, have a great trip!
