We are staying at POR in June. I plan on checking in on the internet. I have read several suggestions on buildings to request and even a few room #. How specific should I get. Should I just request buildings or request an actual room?

The more general you are making a request, the more likely it is you will get what you want.  For example, by requesting only a room, you have a small chance of that room's availability (1 out of 2,048 chance).  If you request a building. there are many more opportunities to get a room within the building (1 out of 20 chance).  So, I'd opt for a building request rather than an actual room to increase the odds.
