Hi, we are staying at POR on feb2 till feb 11 2013, my husband and I and our dd ..We were thinking about staying at por for some of our stay and trying a deluxe for a few days as well any thoughts if we should try this.. we have the dining plan too

    Hi Melanie,

What you are considering for your February trip is what Disney fans call a "split stay," where you spend your vacation at more than one Disney resort.  If you hope to be exposed to the different kinds of magic available at Disney's more than twenty on-property resorts, split stays are a great strategy.  The Bell Services desks at your Disney resorts will help make the transition between resorts easier by moving your luggage for you.

If you don't enjoy packing up your belongings mid-vacation, then a split stay may not be for you.  My family likes to settle in to our home resort while vacationing at Walt Disney World.  We feel that spending time re-packing our luggage for a move to a new resort takes time away that we would otherwise spend in the parks.

Whether you should do a split stay for your upcoming trip really comes down to your personal priorities for your vacation.  If immersing yourself in the incomparable theming of more than one Disney resort is at the top of your list of things to do, then I highly recommend a split stay.  Do keep in mind that you will have to use all of your Disney Dining Plan credits associated with each resort reservation by midnight on the day you check out of that resort.  They will not transfer to your reservation at the next Disney resort.

Thanks for posting your question to the Moms Panel and best wishes to you and your family for a truly magical Disney adventure!
