We're staying at POR and will have a car. Is it better/easier/faster to drive to Magic Kingdom or take the bus there?

    Hi Stacy,

Thanks for the great question about transportation to Magic Kingdom. I'm happy to help, based on my experience as a frequent visitor who always has a car available.

I would take the bus from Port Orleans Riverside to Magic Kingdom. The bus leaves Port Orleans about every 20 minutes and, about 15 minutes later, drops guests right at the entrance to Magic Kingdom.

The parking lot for Magic Kingdom is across Seven Seas Lagoon from the park. Once you park your car, you will need to walk or take the tram to the Transportation and Ticket Center, then take a monorail or ferry to the Magic Kingdom entrance. It's a multi-step system that seems less convenient to me and my family than letting the complimentary Walt Disney World transportation do the driving for us.

We generally find it more relaxing and convenient to use the transportation system, especially if we decide to park hop.

You may find a new feature of the My Disney Experience mobile app useful as you decide your transportation plans. The "Get Directions" feature will show you all your options and an approximate time between destinations.

Thanks again, Diana, for dropping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Please let us know if we can answer any other questions for you as you make your final plans. Enjoy!
